feedback from Alexandra:

GONEET – Generation Opportunities for “NEET” was focused on working with young people and to raise awareness of employment opportunities in the labor market.

My personal experience and project evaluation:

During the workshops, we have been dealing with the situation of the unemployed from multiple perspectives, and thanks to the discussions that were included in each activity, we could exchange our experience from practice. The project helped me to understand better work with unemployed young people and gave me different views and opinions from other countries. It has expanded my overview of organizations working in the area and helped to re-engage. Throughout the event, we had ensured maximum care and the organization of the event was on high level. The event was held in a very friendly atmosphere. I would definitely recommend similar training to anyone who is interested in the issue.

Examples of workshops:

Coaching the NEETs – the intention was to create a real situation when a coach tries to motivate an unemployed person; various methods and examples have been used here; discussion; analysis of the importance of coaching in practice
Self-understanding for Employment – the aim of the workshop was to find common values for unemployed young people. Based on these values, we were able not only to better understand their situation and approach but also to propose appropriate measures and solutions in specific situations.
Video Presentation – we uploaded our own video CVs and analyzed it and compared the advantages and disadvantages with the classic CV type. The workshop gave us space to create videos and improve our graphic skills. Teamwork and task-sharing management were also very important.
Other workshops and activities during the project: Walk of Thoughts, I was there I came here I walk that way, Group Building / Leadership Brand, Market for Youth Workers, NGO Market, Action Plan.

Summary what was training about:

NEET – “Not in Education, Employment, or Training

The immediate future of Europe depends upon the 94 million Europeans aged between 15 and 29. Apart from the challenges that young people for generations have faced as they embark up on adult life, this generation will live in an era of full globalisation and will have to cope with the responsibility of an ageing population.

Being NEET has severe adverse consequences for the individual, society and the economy in general. Spending time as NEET may lead to a wide range of social disadvantages, such as disaffection, insecure and poor future employment, youth offending, as well as mental and physical health problems. European Union is more than concerned about NEET’s problem and there are various initiatives and actions being taken to reinforce youth in facing unemployment and social exclusion. But this is just a start.

Youth organizations need to act at the local level in order to ensure that more young unemployed people will be influenced by those EU actions, initiatives and policies. We have to give them again the stimulus and the chance to dream about their lives and design their future the way they want. And at the same time, we should equip them with all the necessary competences which will make them skilful hunters when searching for a job or a training.

OBJECTIVES of training course were:

• To support young people to identify the strengths and weaknesses of their personality on several sectors;
• To develop specific skills (spoken communication, making effective presentations, networking, teamwork, etc.) which will later foster their employability;
• To gain together better understanding of the NEET issue by sharing previous successful interventions and understanding each partner role in the problem solving;
• To equip those involved with NEET youth work with skills and competencies to better support this vulnerable target group.
