More information about training course:

This youth worker training brought together a diverse international group of participants, in a mountain location immersed completely in nature, to share experiences and receive training on ecosocial design and ways to integrate attitudes and behaviours that promote positive change towards a sustainable, enriching life. The project was based on the Permaculture Design Certificate course with methodology of non-formal education that particularly resonates with young people as they become environmentally conscious, learn vital skills and seek employment.

OBJECTIVES:

The key elements of the training were:
1) to recognise the importance of connecting with nature and exploring the answers to questions about the future in community
2) create positive narratives to share with youth about interbeing, active hope based on an understanding of systems thinking
3) understand how regenerative design based on permaculture and ecology can be applied to different areas of life – “We are all ecosocial designers”
4) Provide youth workers with diverse, engaging tools to share these ideas with youth.

We aimed to pass on knowledge and inspiration to the participants, as well as emphasise the importance of personal reflection and rest time/mindfulness and provide strategies to encourage this. We also  offerše participants hands-on experience in the diverse vegetable gardens, tree-planting projects, energy and water systems at Sanillés, the site of the training. The outcomes – to develop attitudes of active hope, understand the importance of systems thinking and resilience, develop positive ideas for climate change adaptation, improve self-care and mental health, and take away practical tools for the application of ecosocial design.

Participants were from 20 countries, 1 from each.
