Summary was this study visit about:

“Development for Youth Workers Study Visit” was a 6 days study visit in Ankara, Turkey between 3-8 November 2018 for youth workers and youth leaders. It was organized by a consortium of partners from different experiences and backgrounds. In the project, there were 28 participants from 8 different countries; United Kingdom, Slovenia, Macedonia, Italy, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Germany and Turkey.

There is a growing momentum on youth participation within the development field. Moreover, there is greater recognition that young people are the future of their countries’ or other countries’ development. Given that scope, the topics we will be dealing in the study visit are; development, international development, development dialogue, development policy priorities and especially Sustainable Development Goals etc. The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is a set of 17 aspirational “Global Goals” that consists 169 targets. The SDGs were in large measure informed by the often quoted assertion by United Nations Secretary-General at the time Ban Ki-moon that “there can be no Plan B, because there is no Planet B.

The aim of the project was to increase the competencies of the participants, increasing the capacity of the organizations and exchanging good examples among the institutions by providing study visits to the institutions and organizations working in Turkey for the youth workers working in the development field.

The project was based on non-formal education activities. Program of the activity offered participants to visit several different organizations for better understanding the Development in different levels and to create a room to develop concrete project ideas. With the help of this project, we believe that we contributed to the understanding of the growing importance of and greater potential for youth participation in development practices and to explore key issues and approaches.

The study visit was based on non-formal education methods. There were several visits to both public and non-governmental organisations. It wasgreat opportunity to enhance exchange, partnership and co-operation.

Participants were from United Kingdom , Slovenia , Macedonia , Italy , Bulgaria , Germany , Turkey and Slovakia . 3 participants from each country.
