Braňo and Jakub participated in a 2-month volunteer project with the aim of trying to live in one community with different people from different cultures and worked as volunteers in various activities in the organization “Olde Vechte Foundation”.
What is their feedback?
“The Wider Horizon volunteer program in the Netherlands offered me the opportunity to work in a home for people with mental health problems. Daily interactions with them offered me a unique insight into the reality of people who are often silenced by social stigmas.
In addition, I was part of a wider community of volunteers who carried diverse identities and our coexistence brought valuable confrontations that broadened my perspective on life. Despite our different cultural backgrounds, we have found unity in a common European identity and a common motivation for building an inclusive society in which everyone and everything, regardless of gender, sexuality and race, has an unconditional place.”
