Summary what was this volunteering project about:
Volunteers got an amazing oportunity to learn languages in an environment of non-formal education, getting out of their everyday routine and embracing new ways of learning through active involvement. They also took part in community service to help locals with their everyday needs.
There were 4 English lessons implemented in the local school in Gospić which volunteers developed, planned and organised together. They also helped locals with their everyday needs as a part of community service, as well as organising a family day event for local families to spend a day together with us. A little work at our educational center were also be done to prepare it for winter!
PLACE:
OBC Educational Centre, Veliki Žitnik. The OBC Educational Centre is fully equipped with two big dormitory-type bedrooms, 6 bathrooms, a kitchen, a common room and a big yard, surrounded by endless forests of this beautiful area.
Outward Bound Croatia is a member of the Outward Bound International network – a leading organisation providing outdoor experiential learning programs. The main field of activity is organisation and implementation of innovative outdoor programs for school children and youth, with special concern of youth with fewer opportunities. We have been active within the Erasmus+ program for 5 years and have implemented more than 40 projects in the youth sector – youth exchanges, training courses and EVS volunteering projects. Now we continue with European Solidarity Corps. Our values are: compassion, integrity, courage, trust and cooperation.
