Youth exchange “Around Europe – Culture Swap” provided opportunity for 30 participants to travel Europe during 8 days while staying together in Slovakia. We discovered a new country every day. We wore clothes which are typical for these countries in our opinion. We had language sessions, culture sessions, sessions where we discussed problems of these countries and looked for the solutions.
At the end of the day we cooked together the national food of the country which day is. First day we played games with the aim to get to know each other, discovered what is Erasmus+, Youthpass and 8 key competences. Last day we focused on dissemination of what we learnt and put it together in the “paper” to be able to share it with others. Check our our excited journey and travel around Europe with us and our pictures.
IMPLEMENTED ACTIVITIES:
- Cultural immersion workshops:
Daily workshops focusing on the unique cultural aspects of each participating country, including language lessons, cooking traditional dishes, traditional dress, and folk dances. To enhance participants’ understanding and appreciation of each culture represented in the exchange. - Interactive role-playing and simulation games:
Participants engaged in role-playing scenarios that simulate real-life cultural interactions and problem-solving in different social contexts. To develop participants’ empathy, communication skills, and ability to navigate culturally diverse environments. - Group projects on European challenges:
Small mixed-nationality groups worked on projects addressing common European issues such as environmental sustainability, migration, and social inclusion. To foster teamwork and problem-solving skills while encouraging a deeper understanding of shared European challenges and how they affect different communities. - Cultural presentations:
Each country hosted workshops where they showcase their culture through performances, presentations, and traditional food. To celebrate diversity and provide participants with the opportunity to share their heritage and learn about others in a festive setting. - Reflection and feedback sessions:
Regularly scheduled sessions where participants can reflect on their experiences, discuss what they have learned, and provide feedback on the activities. To enhance learning outcomes and ensure participants can express their thoughts and suggestions for the improvement of the exchange. - Community engagement activities:
Participants planed and executed a small-scale community project or cultural event towards the end of the exchange, involving local residents. To apply their learning in real-world settings and make a positive impact on the local community hosting the exchange.

ANOTHER RESULTS OF THE PROJECT:
- COOKING RECIPE BOOK – Explore popular and traditional dishes across the six countries of Europe. All recipes have been tested by the youth exchange participants and we would like to share the process with you. Culture can also be explored through tastes and smells, for example. Prepare meals with your friends, loved ones or family. You are guaranteed to have fun and enjoy the food.
- TOOLKIT – In this toolkit you will find national games, a language window, tradition problems and recipes from 6 EU countries. The toolkit is the result of a youth exchange that took place from 14-23 November in Podhajska, Slovakia. Everything you will find in the handbook was experienced by us and therefore we want to show you as close as possible what the youth exchange was like, what we learned, where we travelled and what problems we solved.
