Radka strávila 6 mesiacov v organizácii Piedzīvojuma Gars. Aká bola jej náplň práce?
As George Bernard Shaw said:
“We don’t stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing”
We may think we’re pretty smart, but in fact we have very little notion of how humans learn. Kids know: They play games. Until, that is, they go to school. That’s when the games stop. And often, so does the learning. This is where experiential education comes in.
Piedzīvojuma Gars (PG) is a Latvian outdoor education organization working on creating adventures and developing the people involved in them. PG is a workshop of ideas, coming up with solutions, we test and experiment ways to make learning fun and engaging.
One of our favourite tools for learning and building better teams is what we call ”outdoor role-play”. It’s not just running around the forest and pretending to be an indian; the game has a goal to develop one’s strategic thinking, see how causeeffect relationships work and create a taking-over-the-world plan to realize together with the rest of the team – sometimes people working together on a daily basis, sometimes total strangers. There are many different kinds of games, but this EVS was focused specifically on night games and you could be the creator of them.
EVS volunteer did a lot researching and exploring of what’s online and outside, preparing materials, exploring possible venues, managing marketing and analysing data but also rganizing events, doing last minute fixing and interacting with the participants.
Main result that was created during Master the Game project, and this is a game book of various night games we use at PG and those that were created by the volunteers throughout the year.
