Summary of the project
In collaboration with a social cooperative , UniCredit’s initiative is to support NEETs through skilling and reskilling, with the aim of helping them approach the job market or pursue atraining path focused on green topics.
The course is aimed at young people aged between 15 and 29 who are unemployed and not in school, as well as re-entrants (people seeking work following a job loss with reskilling needed to restart in the job market).
Lasting approximately 5 months, we offer training sessions both in person and online, as well as meetings with entrepreneurs at companies and in-person tutoring service to guide participants in learning the skills and obtaining a final certificate.
It delivers strategic training to young people – including students and those not in education, employment or training (NEETs) – and companies expected to be impacted by the green transition, helping them to develop the skills they need to meet the demands of a changing environment whilst generating a measurable social impact. The initiative sits firmly in line with UniCredit’s strong commitment to promoting a just and fair transition, as well as its consistent support for education – a key driver for Europe’s future. Together, these form part of the bank’s stated purpose of empowering its communities to progress and underpin many of its ESG goals.
The Skills for Transition programme runs across six UniCredit Group countries (Italy, Germany, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Romania).
The project plans to include several key activities: conducting a needs analysis of NEETs in six countries, promoting training courses, and coordinating meetings with partner countries. Training courses will consist of 20 hours per country, including an intensive weekend workshop for 30 young participants, during which they will develop their business plans. The four best business plans will be selected for a presentation in Milan. Additional activities include on-site visits with entrepreneurs, workshops with sustainability experts, online learning, and dissemination efforts, culminating in an international meeting and ex-post evaluation of the NEETs’ progress six months after the program.
Skills for Transition is a social programme, fully funded by UniCredit.
