The project “Volunteering for Acceptance and Diversity” was a short term EVS project that was built around the idea of volunteering service as a main tool in raising awareness of human rights, tolerance and acceptance of diversity as well as promoting inclusion and intercultural learning. The project focused on the current refugee crisis and develop activities to raise awareness of the communities where the volunteers are hosted about the refugees. It also aimed to promote solidarity and cooperation especially by motivating organizations to engage with the refugees and offer support for them.
Project objectives
- to develop empathy and acceptance of the refugees through local community actions and storytelling
- raise awareness about the refugee crisis and their reasons to migrate
- develop educational activities to be presented in schools about the refugee situation
- to provide support to activists working on safe-passage of young refugees, migrants and asylum seekers
- to engage the local community in dialogue with the young refugees, migrants and asylum seekers
- Learn about Erasmus+ and how it fosters wellbeing, inclusion, and youth participation
- Co-create a digital guide with tips for healthy living and a positive mindset ♀️
Tak v prvom rade ďakujem za poskytnutú príležitosť, určite som rád, že som išiel, je to super skúsenosť, len škoda, že sa musím vrátiť naspať do školy 😀 Spoznal som kopec skvelých ľudí, precestoval mnoho krásnych destinácií a určite som rád, že projekt sa uskutočnil práve na balkáne, kde je život trochu iný ako v Európskej únii. Čo sa týka projektu, tak tá téma mi úplne sadla a je úplne super zasadená a potrebná k diskusii v týchto zemepisných šírkach a to nie len kvôli utečencom, ktorí stále sú na v utečeneckých táboroch v juhovýchodnej Európe, ale aj kvôli interetnickému spolužitiu majorít a minorít nie len v Macedónsku, ale možno aj v širšom okolí. Dúfam, že sme aspoň trochu utečencom spríjemnii ťažký čas v tábore v Tabanovciach a aspoň trochu zvýšili povedomie o nich v Kumanove, ale nie len o nich, ale celkovo o solidarite, slobode, antirasizme, demokracii a podobne. Za posledných pár dni som si uvedomil, že 3 mesiace je krátka doba, kľudne si viem predstaviť ostať tu aj dlhšie, aj rok. Možno po škole ak bude čas tak skúsim pohľadať niečo mimo EVS aj na dlhšiu dobu. Každopádne ma tento pobyt upevnil v mojom postoji, žeby som určite chcel ostať aj v budúcnosti či už v akademickej, alebo v "mimovládnej" sfére
