CCIF Malta has been running a wide range of community-based programs to assist and equip Youth Workers in their work. The main aim of this TC was to equip and upskill Youth workers’ to provide them with tools and methods to fight fear of role, fear of communication, fear of public speaking, fear of conflict, fear of judgment and their ability to do their job effectively and efficiently.

Through empowerment of the specific competencies we were able to empower youth workers to work among diverse youths. Participants had the chance to take part in practical activities, practicing their learning and getting feedback from the trainers and colleagues.

The program of activities started by investigating the complexity of the role of a Youth Worker nowadays, focusing on ethics and values in Youth work and mainly on the fears (hidden and clear) and on the personal experiences of participants in their Youth work activities. The central part of the TC was directed to empower fundamental English speaking skills and help youth workers for overcoming these fears (not only those listed but even more emerging in the first day from the experiences of the participants) – fear in communication, fear of speaking in English , fear of conflict, fear of judgment, …

Last part of the TC was about practicing: in groups, participants will be challenged in designing and in performing workshops, according to the inputs received in the previous days. After the TC, at home, participants implemented a discussion or workshop with youths on a topic of their choice..
