In Our Hands

The training course “In Our Hands” is an Erasmus+ project for youth workers and/or staff of associations interested in new methodologies to engage young people and create a community. In this project, we will discuss and practice new pedagogical tools in the framework of the tactical urbanism using elements of Writing and Urban Arts. The activity aims to bring youth workers from different European countries and to provide them with the opportunity to share ideas, opinions about all that concern the concept of urban regeneration, public spaces, and rural areas.

During the mobility, the participants will be involved in some interactive activities to make an urban regeneration intervention in the village building soft furniture (seats, flower boxes, benches, tables, etc.) and then decorating them through Writing session. They will know the community through the interaction with citizens with the aim to identify the needs of the inhabitants. Then, the participants will work on their own ideas to “re-design” a public space in the town, building furniture for it through self-construction workshops. During these working sessions, the participants will learn how to use these methodologies, as well as improving their manual skills building soft furniture through the use of wood or recycled materials and then make everything more attractive through the Writing art (for this reason do not forget to bring clothes you can use for working and closed shoes :D)

The training course will follow the concept of tactical urbanism, a method of rapid, low-cost project implementation using a set of techniques designed to enhance the built environment, with the intent of bringing about long-term positive outcomes for the community.

Training course is mostly for youth workers, teachers, leaders, volunteers or for everybody who are interested in the topic, want to travel, learn and meet new people and cultures from the age of 18+.
