Green Education Through Sports (GETS) was a 18 months Erasmus+ project with the aim to develop, test and implement an innovative online educational tool allowing grassroots sport and environmental organisations to exchange knowledge in order to deliver eco-friendly sport events benefiting as wide a range of target groups as possible. GETS focuses on the ever growing needs of the grassroots sport movement to implement more sustainable, environmentally-friendly, volunteer-based and widely accessible sport events that on one hand raise awareness on the importance of environmental protection and on the other hand encourage participation in health enhancing physical activity.
4-days training course to up-skill 30 sport and civil organisations’ staff and volunteers with the educational methodology to deliver accessible sporting events addressing the challenges of climate change and environmental issues. The training course will be based on the introduction of the tangible outcomes of the GETS project, especially the e-module which will be tested by the young participants. The goal of the testing activity is to further develop the e-module and make it more appealing and user-friendly for the key target group: the staff volunteers of grassroots sport organisations and green NGOs. The training is based on non-formal education, building on the personal contributions of participants in forms of interactive workshops and presentations, round-table discussions and debates. As a follow-up of the training, participants of the training course will have to implement the knowledge learned in their local communities.
Training course is for everyone who is interested in the topic and is in daily contact with youngsters either as a youth worker, teacher, leader, volunteer, is part of any organization where young people are gathering, school or sport clubs, and etc. From the age of 18+.
Participants were from Hungary , Portugal , Ireland , Croatia and Slovakia . There were more participants from each country.
