EU is U

Youth Exchanges in the framework of “EU is U”, allow 7 youth groups of international partners from Cyprus, Greece, Romania, Italy, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary to meet in Cyprus between 12-21 November 2024 and carry out, jointly and by the method of non-formal and informal learning activities, a relevant activity plan. This plan indicatively includes youth meetings among 56 persons, “know as better” debates, role-plays, simulations, outdoor activities, learning visits, exercises labs, etc, that have designed and prepared by the partners before the exchange of the young participants in order to they can tackle the requirements set by the labor market and the economy as well as the society and the democracy in united Europe, as we believe that young people are the ground of the community we live in.

In a time when Europe is facing uncertainty, while it is being challenged by multiple crisis, economic instability, Brexit, refugee crisis, war in Ukraine, many citizens are falling under the temptation to join either extremist or populist groups that are moving away from the original European idea, towards more xenophobic and authoritarian views, as such groups gain popularity by the day. As demonstrated by elections and referendums across many European countries, and the anti-EU movements gaining momentum.

The main objectives are in full accordance with Erasmus+ programme, as it follows below:
• To give an opportunity to young people to learn about the different EU institutions, EU rights, Youth Goals and EU processes;
• Foster solidarity and tolerance, respect and mutual understanding, dialogue and cooperation between young people coming from different religious, cultural and social backgrounds;
• Prevent the negative impact of discriminatory action, fighting against exclusion and marginalization of young people with fewer opportunities
• Encourage young people to participate in the solutions for social hindrance, thus stimulating their prospective role as active citizens;
• Calibrate the understanding of the European values and the freedom of movement;
• Highlighting the connection between European citizenship, human rights, democracy and intercultural learning, together with the underlying values
• Raise awareness about other European nations, learn about their origins and thus to fight against harming prejudices.

Youth exchange is for everybody who is interested in the topic, want to travel, learn and meet new people and cultures from the age of 18 – 30. Leaders can be older than that.
