This project aims to enhance the intercultural competencies of youth workers to prevent and respond to hate speech and hate crimes, focusing on youth from minorities, including Roma, refugees, and migrants. The main objectives include organizing 30 local youth work activities and at least 15 international youth exchanges to promote intercultural teamwork and combat social exclusion and discrimination. Additionally, partnerships will be built between 10 local youth organizations and 9 other partners to support the project.
Youth workers and leaders will improve their understanding and skills necessary to combat hate speech and hate crimes, including using media for awareness campaigns. Competence acquisition will be measured through online surveys, evaluations, and personal mentoring.
The proposed training course in Romania, “Unity Against Hate,” will equip participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively address these issues, through practical exercises and activities. Participants will learn to design and implement campaigns and actions against hate speech and hate crimes, thereby enhancing their communication, teamwork, and leadership skills in intercultural environments.
The project’s impact will extend not only to the participants and involved organizations but also to the target communities, by sharing knowledge and promoting a more inclusive society. Tangible outcomes will include an electronic brochure with youth work strategies and tools, defining hate speech and social isolation, developing campaign scenarios, and proposing projects based on the Erasmus+ programs and the European Youth Fund.
Participants were Hungary , Italy , Turkey , The Netherlands , Czechia , Greece , Poland , Portugal and Slovakia . There was 1 participant from each country.
