Sport plays an important societal role and contributes decisively to the well-being of society. Thus, for young people, sport can, on the one hand, improve physical fitness and health but it can also and above all be an important tool for personal and professional development. Sport, by its very essence that of a codified practice, with rules to be respected and controlled by an arbitrator – is supposed to set limits and convey values, such as those of self-transcendence, respect and the rules of the game, solidarity, team spirit, solidarity …

The universal reach of sport makes it a springboard for the future of young people from all walks of life. This is especially true for young people with fewer opportunities who need extra support to build their identity, develop their skills and cope with the challenges of life. Talking about sport is not only about commenting on results, but it is also about education (informal), citizenship (involvement in sports associations is important, 56470 licenses issued in 2016 in Martinique), health, equality, economy, jobs, innovation … It is finally the place where the first forms of active citizenship are experimented: it is often within the club that the first experiences of responsibilities and volunteering. However, youth workers working with this target group often have little or no experience in using sport as an educational tool and do not know how to maximize the potential of sport in their daily work.

In addition, due to the geographical and cultural remoteness of the Caribbean region, few European projects related to youth are left there. Erasmus+ and its opportunities, is in fact very little known by associations and youth workers, let alone by young people. We believe that it is essential to promote these opportunities in terms of training, in the ORs of Europe.

Specific objectives were:
– To analyze the contexts, issues and challenges faced by young people in socio-economic precarious situations;
– To exchange the best practices and methodological tools related to Sport as an educational tool;
– To improve the skills of youth workers as part of their mission to include young people with fewer opportunities through sport;
– To develop knowledge of youth workers on the Erasmus + Sport program;
– To ceate concrete and sustainable partnerships enabling the creation and development of at least 6 intercultural Erasmus + projects promoting Sport as a socio-educational tool;
– To strengthen the networking of sports structures, operating in the ORs with their European counterparts.
