“Game Changers: Fostering Active Citizenship among Youth through Sports” is a pioneering European program designed to reverse the trend of waning youth participation in civic life by leveraging sports as a catalyst for active citizenship.
This initiative underscores the critical importance of three areas: bolstering the skills of youth workers, crafting sports-centered civic engagement initiatives, and fostering connections with local communities. Its aims are multifaceted, including bridging the gap between sports and civic involvement, formulating strategies to enhance engagement, empowering youth facilitators, devising sports-related activities that mirror the diversity of participating countries, impacting local communities positively, and establishing a supportive network of youth workers with shared visions.
Through achieving these goals, the initiative aspires to reshape the attitudes and behaviors of young individuals, motivating them to make meaningful contributions to their communities. Additionally, this initiative represents a vital contribution to the broader European endeavor to boost youth involvement in the 2024 European elections, further solidifying its commitment to fostering a more engaged and participatory society.
